Running in Bali. Nusa Dua, Ubud and Gili T circuits

There are amazing trail running opportunities in Bali. Just try to avoid running in street around busy areas and at midday when the sun is radiating at full.
Ubud present endless trail running options accross the rice fields pearched at the north. From the Tourist information, cross the street and take the left until you find a "rice fields" sign. Follow it taking right and start the run. You can run up approx 5k until you find a paved street. Follow it to the left until you find a path that take you south again passing several art galleries, and nice peacefull restaurants. The total loop should be around 10k.
Another popular option in Ubud is the "ridge walk". This one start from the river junction close to a temple and follows a ridge that arise in between to rivers. The path transition into a small street and then into the road that goes up north. From this crossing you can return running or go back through the road taken the left. The Lonely Planet guide has a map of this loop of approx 8ks.
Nusa Dua is a very good area for running. 8ks can be easily done completing a loop starting from the second gate, going to The Bay and then following the path that goes north along the beach accross the luxury resorts. You can run up to Club Med piers or go further and then return the same way.
From Nusa Dua there is hilly 20k option to Uluwatu however the road is busy and narrow. In Uluwatu there are nice stairs trails that goes to the surfing beach. Climbing them up and down is a good workout.
In Lombok, the Gili T around the island loop is approx 6.8k long. It is well paved and marked, except by a short beach section north of Central and close to the Shark reef snorkeling area.

Traveling with children in Bali

Bali is an amazing place to travel with children. Not only because of its endless possibilities and nature, but because of its people.
Balinese people is warm, open and friendly with people traveling and exploring their country. And they are extremely kind and even more friendly with children, specially toddlers and babies.
You can find easily baby food, napies, and children seats in restaurants. Also children will love the fresh juices and smoothies produced with local tropical fruits.
The main inconvenients are:
A) non potable tap water. Remember to boil water before cleaning dummies, milk bottles or anything the children use to eat.
B) pool areas. Never stop looking at children when in a pool area. NEVER.
In Ubud we stayed in Alam Sari, approx 20mins north of the town center close to the Keliki village. Staff in this hotel is extremely friendly and kind. Our children lovel the Vanilla and the banana milkshake. The vanilla was harvested from the organic garden and tasted incredible. The tamarin juice was deliciuous. They also had a healthy kids menu with good sized portions.
To move around we hired from Alam Sari a local driver called Wayang. We showed us the water temple, Jatiluwih rice fields and drove us around Ubud at a quiet pace among the busy roads of central Bali.
In Gili T we stayed in Eden Cottages. Here the staff is also friendly with kids and prepare delicious banana pancakes at breakfast. Susanne the manager and owner will ensure you have a relaxing and fun stay in the island.
Children will love to travel around the island in the carts pushed by ponnies.
To travel around South Bali we stayed in Nusa Dua in the Marriot Courtyard hotel. This hotel has an impressive pool good for childen and kids club. Their staff is also extremely child friendly.
To travel around South Bali we hired Kadex Smile. He was also knowledgable of the area and kind with children.
